How to set up sheets in Revit: step-by-step

 

Getting the sequence right matters. Skipping ahead to viewport placement before your title block is properly configured means rework later.

1. Create the sheet

 

Go to the View tab, click Sheet Composition, then select Sheet. In the New Sheet dialog, choose your title block template. Revit assigns a default number and name; change both immediately to match your project’s naming convention. You can also right-click the Sheets category in the Project Browser and select New Sheet from there.

 

2. Set up your title block parameters

 

Click the title block to open its Properties. Fill in project information fields: Project Name, Number, Address, and Client. Sheet-specific fields like Drawn By and Checked By should also be completed now, not at issue time. Shared parameters update automatically across all sheets, so entering project info once is enough.
