How to open a sample DWG safely: open the file, type AUDIT and press Enter to check for errors, then run PURGE to remove unused layers and blocks. Objects appear at the wrong scale. This almost always means your units were set incorrectly when you started the drawing, or you inserted a block that was drawn in a different unit system. Dimensions look wrong or text is too small to read. Your DIMSTYLE is set to a fixed text height that does not match your drawing scale. Open DIMSTYLE, set the overall scale factor to match your plot scale (for example, 50 for a 1:50 drawing), and update all existing dimensions with DIMUPDATE.

 

Hatch does not fill a closed boundary. The boundary has a gap. Use the BOUNDARY command to detect the gap, zoom in to find it, and close it with a short LINE segment. Then re-run HATCH.

 

The drawing looks fine in Model space but plots blank or at the wrong scale. You are plotting from Model space instead of a Layout tab, or your viewport scale is not locked. Switch to a Layout, set the viewport scale explicitly (double-click inside the viewport, then type ZOOM followed by the scale factor, such as 1/50XP for 1:50), then lock the viewport before plotting.

 

Blocks insert at the wrong size. The block was created at a different unit scale. When inserting, check the Insert dialog’s scale fields, or use the INSUNITS variable to set a consistent unit for block insertion across your drawing.
